‘Lights in Alingsas’ is an exterior public event that has taken place along a 2.5-kilometer trail in Alingsas, Sweden every autumn for the past 17 years. Using a carefully selected theme, temporary lighting installations are designed and installed during a 7-day workshop. Led by selected professional lighting designers and attended by 60 enthusiastic international students, the event draws over 80,000 visitors during a 5-week period after the students and designers have returned home. The 2016 theme, “The Enlightenment,” highlighted the UN Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2016.
Debra Gilmore titled her site “A Time to Reflect”. Lighting design solutions by her team addressed the topic of physical and personal reflection along central paths surrounding Church Christinae.
