Controls
Our lighting design process includes code-required considerations, and options for those interfacing with the final installation such as end users, building engineers, or owners. We create solutions that can yield scene flexibility or visual variations and ease of operation while coordinating with engineering project goals. Control narratives and scheduled control zone plans define deliverables.
Custom Fixture Design
By carefully considering factors such as site conditions, usage, ease of construction/installation, maintenance, cost and energy efficiency, Gilmore creatively integrates requirements with desired effects of light. Our designers generate unique products that perform functionally as well as aesthetically within the larger contexts of architecture and landscape.
Lighting Master Plan Studies
Working with the architect and landscape architect, we assist in establishing long-range lighting goals in-sync with the overall project objectives, and establish the Lighting Master Plan. Often, phased implementation plans are also developed.
Photometric Calculations
Using in-house photometric lighting software such as AGi32 or Elumtools, our layouts inform intended lighting quantity and analyze fixture performance comparisons. Study results may be delivered as site photometrics or actual exported renderings.
Mockups
Lighting mockups are regularly performed using light fixture samples. In-house exercises evaluate a fixture’s overall characteristics, quality and photometric performance. Full-scale or on-site mockups are often recommended to demonstrate concepts and overall lighting distribution for any given fixtures.
Mounting Details
We provide schematic mounting details illustrating orientation and/or mounting for the intended lighting equipment, and coordinate carefully with the architect’s materials and intentions.
Revit Lighting Models
Using Revit, our designers develop a linked lighting model populated with light fixture family selections compatible with our approved schematic lighting design.
Reports
Our experience lends expertise in collaboration with civil engineers and landscape architects for long-range planning and public policy development.
Schematic Design
The foundation of great design starts with good concepts that lead schematic design. We create concepts for all contracted work before moving on to any detailed or technical study.
Visualizations
Using software and graphic presentation skills, we develop convincing visualizations that communicate lighting concepts.
