Throughout her career, Ms. Gilmore has forged long-term relationships with globally recognized architects, engineers, and landscape designers, with whom she collaborates on international and published award-winning projects. Based in Bethesda, MD, her firm specializes in complex exterior projects such as parks, cultural heritage sites and master plans, with a vast portfolio of large-scale interior projects that cover market sectors ranging from hospitality and mixed-use to education facilities and corporate headquarters. A few of her most widely recognized projects are Asia Trail Smithsonian Zoological Park, FDA Campus Building III, and Atturaif in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Gilmore enjoys the unique opportunities and idiosyncrasies small projects bring to the design matrix. A couple of her favorite smaller projects like Hello Cupcake and Rasika Restaurant, sparkle and delight clients.
Known for her solutions-based approach, Gilmore incorporates her expertise and understanding into the challenges her clients present to her team to produce outstanding results. Her ability to mix a vision for elegant design with the science of light proves a remarkable combination, which gives her projects a signature of excellence that can be felt as much as seen.
She is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, IALD, and the Illuminating Engineering Society, IES. As a leader in her field, Gilmore sits on the national conference advisory committee, as an IALD representative for Light Fair International 2014.She speaks at conferences and lectures at major universities including Catholic, Maryland, and Parsons. As an author, she contributed to James van Sweden’s 2002 book, Architecture of the Garden. Gilmore and her team enhance any project.
